Please give a warm welcome to Amy from New York…

Author of the critically acclaimed Marjorie McClelland Mysteries, Vermont Country Living Mysteries, and Tish Tarragon Mysteries, Amy Patricia Meade is a native of Long Island, NY, where she cut her teeth on classic films and books featuring Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown.

After serving as a technical writer for a management coaching firm and composing catalog copy for the Vermont Country Store, Amy relocated to southwest England, where she was a featured author at Agatha Christie's Annual Greenway Literary Festival.

Amy now resides in Upstate New York with her musician husband and her two cats and serves as President of the Upper Hudson Chapter of Sisters in Crime.

Favorite Food: Seafood…fish, shellfish, doesn’t matter. I love it all!

Is your book set in the same state that you live in? (please describe the setting)

The first in my Vermont Country Living Mysteries was created while I lived in Vermont, but I now live over the border in New York after spending five years in England. I’ve not written a series set in either place… yet!

If your book is holiday-themed, tell us more about how you included the holiday.

I did have both a Thanksgiving and a Christmas mystery in my Tish Tarragon Mystery series. Tish Tarragon is a caterer and the series is food-based, so having holiday mysteries made sense!

Do your characters speak to you as you write? (if so, tell us a little more about it)

Oh, absolutely! In order to write believable dialogue, one has to hear the characters speaking their lines.

Bonus Questions:

Introduce us to one of the animals in your story.

Bixby, a black Lab, is central to the action in “Game Over at Guild Hall” the third in my Vermont Country Living Mysteries. He is everything you expect in a black Lab: playful, loyal, loveable, and somewhat goofy. He also provides comic relief in the fourth in the series, “Foul Play in La Playa.’ My married sleuths travel to Mexico for a destination wedding, while Bixby remains at home with Grandma.

Who do you think would find your main character relatable?

I try to make my main characters relatable to all readers, but I would imagine women might identify more strongly with them.

Are your mysteries mostly focused on cold cases or current day ones?

A bit of both. My Vermont Country Living Mysteries focus more on current crimes, but my Evelyn Galloway Hollywood Mysteries which take place in the 1940s are definitely inspired by well-known cold cases.

Dream Vacation: I’d love to go to Ireland and Scotland. When my husband and I lived in England, we spent some time in Scotland, but Covid prevented us from visiting Ireland. I’d like to take a few weeks (maybe months) and explore both countries to their fullest.

A Little Bit About the Book:

The list you’d die to be on . . .

March, 1940, and script supervisor Evelyn Galloway is enjoying being reunited with Alfred Hitchcock on his new film—until twenty-three-year-old Phoebe Dillon, an aspiring actress hoping to be an extra in the movie—is found strangled in downtown L.A. Evelyn had encountered Phoebe in the studio hours before she died. Did she really have audition jitters as she claimed, or was she frightened of something—or someone?

When Evelyn learns that Phoebe attended a birthday party for film producer Monty Carpenter the previous weekend, rubbing shoulders with Hollywood's A-list, she makes disturbing discoveries about some of the guests. It seems that powerful dark forces are at play in the film industry during war – and the reason for Phoebe’s murder is more shocking than Evelyn could ever have imagined.
