Sarah Ickes Cover Reveal Promo Image

For those of you who are new to this author...

Sarah Ickes has a devoted passion to art, a love for reading and writing, and has an old soul when it comes to television and films. Though she has a degree in Fine Arts, her life is not as simple as a piece of paper. She has worked in retail management, web designing, and marketing to name a few of the realms of her experiences. The pets in her life take precedence, as anyone with animals knows. Her interest in historical America comes vividly to life in her Murial Robertson mysteries, following the adventures of a woman in the 1880s. Currently, she has three books in the series, as well as one in her Vectra Tillerman Adventures (action/adventure/greek myth/steampunk), and the first installment in her Cybil Lawson Mysteries (cozy/light-hearted traditional mystery).

What is this new book about, you ask? Check out the back blurb here:

A light-hearted amateur sleuth mystery with not only has you seeing flowers  and blue skies, but also secrets buried in past memories with a fresh dose of murder.

It’s been decades since David and Cynthia Lawson had to deal with Reed Thatcher, and until now, they thought he was safely behind bars. But at Cynthia’s 60th birthday bash, Cybil’s Uncle Phoenix unexpectedly tells them that Reed was released and moved to a nearby town two years ago. Though David’s convinced that his old friend’s threat to seek revenge was all for show, his wife isn’t after a close call in the grocery store the next day.

On the flip-side, Cybil has no idea what happened in the past, and with the prospect of a mural commission from wealthy Beatrice Cartwright, things are looking up for the young artist. Unfortunately, her life is turned upside down when she learns that her father was a key witness in the man’s trial and soon finds herself between a rock and a hard place. Her uncle has a plan to unearth Reed’s intentions, but David’s against putting his daughter in danger, and personally blames his brother for all of their troubles.

Between thefts, secret meetings at night, a cold case of murder and arson, a suspicious wristlet, threats made at glass point, missing friends, and a palette knife-pierced body, Cybil might have to paint from the jailhouse if they can’t dig up how a bookshop and the initial “E” are connected. And just why has Reed returned to Robbyr’s Cove?

And the cover is...(🥁drum roll please)

In Plein Air Sight - Cybil Lawson 2 Cover

Why did you pick this color scheme for your new cover? (If you didn’t have a say in the matter, tell us what you like about the colors)

I wanted to go with Earthy tones in order to create a welcoming Spring and gardening feel to the book. Though I have a small garden in comparison to many others, I do enjoy planting new flowers and vegetation in it each year, and used my space as the inspiration for the colors.

Does this book belong to a series? (If so, please describe a little)

Yes, it does! In Plein Air Sight is the second installment in my Cybil Lawson Mysteries. The stories take place in the fictional town of Robbyr’s Cove, Pennsylvania, where Cybil has an artist’s talent of observation that helps to solve the crimes.

What makes your main character so relatable?

I think almost everyone can find something they can relate to in Cybil. Whether it is her pet-loving side, her money struggles, her desire to right a wrong, her painting skills, or her fight to keep her dreams alive, she’s not one to inherit a fortune from a distant relative she didn’t know; and her life is not as cookie-cutter as some may perceive.

One Silly Fact About Me: I prefer soda from glass bottles than from cans.

Sarah's book, In Plein Air Sight, is scheduled to be released at the end of June, into July. For more information on this book, please visit her website: https://www.sarahickesart.com/.
